The HHS Boys Golf Team won the 2019 Antigua National High School Golf Invitational today at Whirlwind Golf Club in Chandler, AZ.
In a field of 24 state championship caliber teams from around the country, the Huskies rallied after a slow start to post an even par team score of 288 for a 14 shot victory on the challenging Devil’ Claw Course in 110 plus temps.
Windermere HS from Windermere, Florida closed the gap early in the round but eventually finished in solo 2nd place.
The team was led by junior Johnny Walker who posted impressive rounds of 68-67=135 (-9) to win the individual title and take home the coveted Kachina prize.
Sophomore Mahanth Chirravuri (64-76=140, 3rd place) and senior Ethan Adam (71-70=140, 4th place) , Anawin Pikulthong (71-75=146, 23rd place) and Nick Lippe (81-83=164, turned in stellar performance.
Competing as an individual, HHS freshman Ryo Ito (76-79=155, 54th place) turned in a strong performance in his first high school tournament.
This was the Huskies 2nd tournament win this season after last week’s victory at the Brophy Invitational!
